Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and the shops are fast filling up with smoochy teddy-bears, naff cards, and nasty nic-nacs. If you want to buy your partner something romantic and tasteful you probably won't find it in a high street card shop, but you will find it at the Valentine's Market at Piccadilly Gardens next Friday and Saturday (12 and 13 February).
With stalls from independent traders and craftspeople, the market will be an eleventh hour saviour for lovers who don't know what to buy their special someone. You'll find lots of original, non-corny gifts such as luxury aromatherapy products by Pure Indulgence, glass art and jewellery from Glass2Die4, and handmade clothing and accessories by Woodchip Boutique.
There will also be individual Valentine's cards (classy ones, not cringe-worthy ones) and freshly-cut bouquets at the nearby Flower Market. Those who are planning to seduce their prey through a candlelit dinner can pick up the necessary ingredients at stalls from the Real Food Market traders. They've got fresh fish and meat, naughty puddings, and all their usual delights. There are few things more romantic than a traditionally-reared sausage.
Times and Dates
The Valentine's Market will be open from 10am-5.30pm on 12 and 13 February.
