Click here to receive two great offers at the Spring Market
The Spring Market heralds the end of winter and a new season for Manchester’s markets.
It takes root in King Street and winds its way through St Ann's Square and down Exchange Street and New Cathedral Street. Stalls decked-out in flowers sell everything from arts, crafts and jewellery to clothing, as well as a wide variety of fine food and drink.
The market, which takes place over two weeks in May, is a perfect place to meet friends, enjoy some spring sunshine, or shop for unusual items for you and your home.
There is a brand new market in King Street which recreates all the fun of an English Garden fete. Amidst hydrangeas, bunting and flowers there’s a chance to sample a traditional Ploughman’s with Mrs Kirkham’s, award-winning cheese and homemade pickles and chutneys. Speciality coffee, cupcakes, afternoon tea, old-fashioned “pop”, Pimms and cocktails will also be served.
St Ann's Square will be bursting with stalls selling things like fine art photography, hand crafted baskets, handmade textiles and other decorative home wares. A spring beer garden will provide a haven to relax and quench the thirst with a fresh smoothie, a nice cuppa - or why not try the selection of local beer, British wines, Pimm’s and even champagne?
You will also find an assortment of cuisines including a barbeque, game pie, chorizo sausage, paella, fresh curries, Dutch waffles, pancakes, local and Dutch cheese, olives and herbs.
Live entertainment to suit all tastes will feature every day including a steel drum band, opera singers, and Morris dancers.
A carpet of flowers will cover Exchange Street courtesy of Dirk the famous Dutch Flower Man. He will be selling his blooms of flowers, plants and hanging baskets to anybody wishing to brighten-up their home or garden for the spring/summer season.
New Cathedral Street is the jewel in the crown with over 20 stalls, including extra ones at the weekends, selling arts & crafts, flowers and a fantastic array of fresh food including ostrich, kangaroo & 'wild burgers', pork pies, coffees and cakes. Helping you make the most of living al fresco during the spring and summer months there will also be a stall selling garden furniture.
It will also be a foodie haven, with a variety of food stalls offering hand made liquorice, fudge, toffees and specialist jams and chutneys. There will be an open-air food court featuring authentic Turkish cuisine and offering a chance to pause and unwind with a coffee and slice of homemade cake.
Times and Dates
The market is held on 20 May to 6 June between 10am and 6pm at St Ann's Square, Exchange Square and New Cathedral Street.
