WYTHENSHAWE Market is a much-loved traditional local market that is rapidly developing alongside the community it serves.
Established 33 years ago in 1975 as a predominantly outdoor market, it was based next to the then-newly built Wythenshawe Forum precinct. As the area changed and more shops moved in, the market moved location in 1999 to a new purpose-built food hall. The market’s outdoor stalls moved to what is now known as the Triangle, within the Forum precinct.
The subsequent redevelopment of the Forum has seen more big name businesses move into the precinct, and Wythenshawe Market’s wide range of goods are now complemented by a new Asda superstore, which opened in 2007.
There are further plans to improve the market, and the outdoor stalls are set to move from the Triangle to the Birtles pedestrian area in Spring/Summer 2010.

There are also exciting plans to make massive improvements to the indoor market hall within the next two years.
A predominantly food-based market, Wythenshawe’s indoor hall provides everything for your kitchen. From fresh meats, chicken, fish, and poultry, to free-range eggs, local cheeses, a delicatessen, fresh fruit and vegetables, the stall-holders strive to provide a traditional attention to detail and customer service.
The outdoor market also offers a wide variety of clothes and jewellery for all ages, including sportswear, children’s shoes and leather goods.
Everything for the household can be bought here. There are stalls selling bedding, curtains and carpets as well as fabrics, knitting wools and haberdashery.

Other products include pet foods, greeting cards, stationery, music CDs and computer goods, while the market also offers a wide range of services including a cobblers, key cutters and newsagent.
A truly traditional market in every sense of the word, Wythenshawe caters for everyone’s shopping needs with a friendly smile.
Second-hand Markets
Wythenshawe’s second-hand market is open on Monday between 9am and 4pm.
