GORTON’S new market hall is stuffed to the gills with top quality traders, many of whom have seen generations of customers pass though the market’s doors.

Opened in June 2008 following the closure of the old outdoor market, the new 4,800 square feet market hall is located on the site of the former Coop Pioneer supermarket on Garratt Way, and boasts over 40 traders.

The bright, welcoming, friendly atmosphere of the new hall has seen the number of weekly customers leap from 5 – 6,000 to an amazing 20,000.

Stalls like the Card Academy and Cooper's family butchers take great pride in providing a welcoming atmosphere and friendly personal service, ensuring customers get exactly what they want.

And Sivori’s market café has served the people of Gorton Market for three generations, bringing a bit of old-fashioned Italian charm to east Manchester.

Now, with improved facilities, the market aims to become the focal point for the community.

The Market offers a huge range of goods and services, from authentic Polish goods to pedicures, from electrical equipment to fashion and sports goods.

There is also an extensive hot and cold food range with local fresh fish, meats, vegetables and cheeses, cakes and smoothies.

Each of the market entrances is decorated with an intricate mosaic. Created by Gorton Visual Arts Centre to mark the opening of the new market hall, the artwork celebrates the history of the nearby Belle Vue fairground and amusement park, which provided fun and laughter for generations of Mancunians.

Carboot Sales

Gorton Market holds a carboot on a Wednesday and Saturday, from 8am to about 3pm. Anyone wanting to trade should just turn up on the day. The market supplies the tables, and the fee is £10.
