Sunday Market and Car Boot

Manchester’s Sunday Market & Car Boot sale is a bargain-hunter’s paradise, and a great chance to experience a unique institution.

If you have the patience to rummage – and the ability to get up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning – there are a wealth of bargains to be had.

Teeming with traders and buyers, the market features all you would expect from a classic carboot, but on a grand scale. Housed under cover in Openshaw's purpose-built New Smithfield Market, the carboot brings together a huge range of goods.

There is clothing for all ages, bric-a-brac, shoes and trainers, new and second-hand furniture, household products, craft stalls, pots and pans, flowers and garden plants.

And as well as the usual second-hand goods, there are also pet products, fresh meat, books, videos, CDs, fresh fruit and vegetables all available at the traditional Sunday market.

There is also a handy café on site, where you can admire your purchases while enjoying a well-earned cup of tea. Perfect.
