John Sivori, 69, is the youngest of eight children. His parents moved to Gorton as poor Italian peasants from Portofino in the 1920s. They set up an ice cream business in 1925, one of many in the Ancoats area, which became known as Little Italy.

Sivori's Café was opened in Gorton Market in 1972. John, who has worked in family businesses since he was 14, still works in the café. It is now managed by his two sons, Steve and Peter. John talks about the history of the family business, and the future of Gorton Market
