The Arndale Market has been named one of the UK's top ten markets by the Guardian travel guide.

It's up there with the famous Bury Market and Borough Market in London, according to the newspaper.

The writer described the Arndale Market as 'the millennial take on the traditional market' and said it is 'designed to enrapture urban youth, hence the sushi takeaways, nail bars and designer clothing'.

It also got points for its food hall which sells all manner of international cuisines, including Jamaican, Greek, Brazilian, Chinese and Indian.

With fresh produce including meat, fish, fruit and veg (all locally sourced) it ticks all the boxes for a multi-purpose, multinational city centre market.

Councillor Paul Andrews, Manchester City Council’s executive member for neighbourhood services, said: “It’s great to see the Arndale Market make the Guardian’s top ten list. It’s contemporary in both feel and layout and welcomes thousands of visitors every day. The market is a real asset to the city centre and we’re extremely proud of it.”

The market is open Monday to Saturday 9am until 6pm and Sunday 11am until 5pm.

It is located on High Street in Manchester city centre and is accessible from the Wintergarden area of the Manchester Arndale.
