THE days of market fashion being about five pairs of socks for a fiver are long gone.
Tib Street’s weekly fashion market has enough to keep rummagers, fashionistas, and second-hand junkies content for hours.
The stalls feature a selection of quirky, hand-made, and often ethically sourced pieces from some of Manchester’s best up and coming designers, created to indulge every taste.
As well as providing the perfect entrance to the Northern Quarter – the traditional home of the city’s creative industries and wholesale clothing industry – the fashion market is also a welcome haven from the mass-produced styles of the high street.
Funky seventies charity finds are transformed into one-off designer-style dresses, while net curtains, lace, and second-hand materials are used for badges, brooches, bags and other funky accessories.

Screenprinted T-shirts nestle alongside handmade leather goods, from bags to purses. Scarves, gloves and hats are customised and spruced up for the winter.
And as well as being a great place to treat yourself, the fashion market is an ideal spot for unique and off-the-wall gift ideas.
The first dedicated fashion market in the North West, the market also gives designers a crucial opportunity to showcase their talent in a city centre location, helping them create their own business without the overheads associated with a shop.
A important part of Manchester's design community, the fashion market gives consumers to the chance to encourage and support the city’s independent creative community.
